Lockdown Extension till May 17: Read MHA guidelines

The Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the nation wide lockdown for a period of two weeks from May 4.  Lockdown 3.0 will continue till May 17.

MHA made the announcement as the lockdown 2.0 was ending on May 3. The Home Ministry took the decision after a comprehensive review and after noting significant gains from 2 phases of lockdown to curb COVID-19.

Extending the lockdown for the second time, the ministry also issued new guidelines to regulate different activities in this period, based on the risk profiling of the districts of the country into Red, Green and Orange Zones.

While some restrictions will apply across the country, the districts in the green and orange areas permitted considerable relaxation to revive the stalled economic activity from March 25 under strict restrictions.

Except most essential, no activity will be allowed in containment zones.

Some important points of lockdown extension guidelines :

  1. No movement between 7 pm to 7 am except essential reasons.
  2. Schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, malls, shopping centres, gyms and sports complexes will also remain closed.  Social, political, cultural and religious gatherings will also not be allowed.
  3. In hotspot areas (Red Zone), people can travel through cars with two people and through two wheelers one person will be allowed.
  4. Private sector offices can work with 33% staff.
  5. Liquor, tobacco, paan, gutka shops will be allowed to open in green and orange zones with conditions like maintaining six feet distance and no more than five people at a time.
  6. Movement through air, rail and road will be allowed for selected purposes by MHA.
