Sunday night, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands by authorizing an increase in the level of Federal funding for relief and recovery assistance as a result of Typhoon Mangkhut during the period of September 10-11, 2018.
Under the major disaster declaration issued for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands on September 29, 2018, Federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 percent of the total eligible costs.
Under the President’s order today, the Federal share for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs.
