The EU Space Programme Security Accreditation Board (EUSPA SAB) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to strengthen collaboration in the oversight of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) system and operations. The MoC aims to enhance the security and safety of air navigation services (ANS) within the European Union, promoting trust in the users of EU Space services.
The MoC parties have agreed to:
- bolster the joint oversight of the EGNOS system to advance its effective operation;
- ensure the system’s overall safety and reliability and its compliance with the security standards; and
- proactively address the evolving ANS security needs by facilitating coordination through dedicated meetings.
The MoC came into effect on January 23, 2024.
