The Union HRD (Human Resource Development) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Tuesday announced the dates for JEE Mains and NEET exams.
Interacting with students on webinar HRD Minister said National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) will be held on July 26, while the Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE)- Mains test for premier institutions such as IITs will be held between July 18 and 23. JEE Advanced exams will be held in August.
Ramesh Pokhriyal said on a webinar that JEE-Advanced exams will be held in August but exact dates will be announced soon. JEE-Advanced exam was earlier scheduled to be held on May 17 while JEE- Mains were earlier scheduled to be held between April 5 to 11 but all examinations were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic enforced lockdown.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal also said that the government has not taken decisions on pending exams of CBSE class 10 and 12 but soon the decision will be taken.
National Eligibility Entrance Test- NEET is a gateway to medical colleges while Joint Engineering Entrance – JEE is to IITs. More than 15 lakh students and more than 9 lakh students have registered for NEET and JEE- Mains respectively.
Universities and schools have been shut down since March 16 across the country when the government announced to close schools and colleges to curb COVID-19 spread. Later, a nationwide lockdown was imposed on March 24.
