Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs Michele Sison will travel to Doha, Qatar, March 5-7, 2023, for a series of meetings with delegates to the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5). Assistant Secretary Sison will underscore U.S. support for LDCs in their efforts to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals and implement the 10-year LDC5 Doha Program of Action. The Assistant Secretary will also participate in discussions regarding current and potential partnerships to mitigate the effects of climate change, recover from the pandemic and build resilience against future shocks, and leverage science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development. Assistant Secretary Sison will also advocate for the U.S. candidate for Director General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope.
