Lockdown extension confirmed! PM says,”Jaan Hai To Jahan Hai” Lockdown in India is due until April 14 due to the coronavirus epidemic, and there will be one thing in everyone’s mind, whether the lockdown will be extended further. PM Modi held a meeting with Chief Ministers of various states on Saturday, 11 April through video conferencing. There was a discussion in the meeting about extending the lockdown period. This meeting lasted for 4 hours and after this meeting there are indications that a better option would be to extend the lockdown. At the meeting, Chief Minister of most states including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh demanded PM Modi to extend the lockdown period. PM Modi has also indicated to extend the lockdown. However, no official statement of any kind has been revealed so far.

In this meeting with the Chief Ministers of various states, PM Modi said, “I am available 24 x 7 on the phone. Any Chief Minister can give his suggestion to me anytime.” The PM said, “Jaan Hai To Jahan Hai”, when I gave the message to the nation, in the beginning, it was emphasized that lockdown and social distancing is very necessary to save the life of every citizen. Soon after the meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, Kejriwal wrote that Prime Minister Modi has taken the right decision to extend the lockdown. At the same time, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also said that the Prime Minister had discussed extending the lock down till April 30 and we are with him in this decision. Although it is not clear when the lockdown extension will be announced, it is expected that this will be announced soon. The Amarinder Government of Punjab and Naveen Patnaik Government of Orissa have already decided to extend the lockdown till 30 April. Other states have also suggested the Modi Government to extend lockdown by at least two weeks. The coronavirus pandemic has killed 242 people and infected over 7500 in India and the only solution till now is to extend the lockdown.
