On behalf of the United States of America, I join President Akufo-Addo and the people of Ghana in celebrating 66 years of independence on March 6.
We greatly value the close cooperation between Ghana and the United States on a wide range of shared priorities. Ghana’s leadership on the UN Security Council, as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, as well as its significant peacekeeping contributions, underscore Ghana’s commitment to our shared values of security, democracy, and economic prosperity in Africa and globally. My meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the U.S. Africa Leaders Summit reaffirmed our strong partnership. We value our shared history and longstanding friendship and look forward to deepening our relationship this year.
Please accept our congratulations on this 66th anniversary of Ghana’s independence.
