Signal Brands Collective Cohort 1

The first cohort of designers selected for the Signal Brands Collective are IHDA Winners, Jeff Wan, Ivana Curic, and Marija Curic of Curic & Curic; and Val\u00e8rie Blaise of Vavvoune, Sade Mims of edas, and Shaquita Garcia of AART NYC.

Signal Brands and The Handbag Awards join forces in creating the Signal Brands Collective, the first-ever handbag designer incubator. Launching in February 2023, the Signal Brands Collective is a 15-week program where the cohort of five selected independent handbag designers will be educated, guided, and mentored by IHDA Founder Emily Blumenthal. With the support of Signal Brands' team and resources, designers will create their "hero bag" mini collection of three silhouettes consisting of a Tote, Satchel, and Crossbody, and will be provided a brand roadmap to have their bags retail-ready on a larger scale.

Signal Brands, a manufacturer and distributor of globally-renowned fashion brands licensed for handbags, small leather goods, luggage, and travel accessories, has been a long-time supporter of The Independent Handbag Awards. "The goal of the Signal Brands Collective is to find talented designers and give them the opportunity to learn about retail expectations, develop a product that can sell on a larger scale, and also give back to the handbag designer community," says Jason Rimokh, CEO of Signal Brands. "We have partnered with the IHDA and Emily, and believe that it's the talent of these handbag designers that truly impact the industry."

Emily Blumenthal who has been often referred to as "The Handbag Fairy Godmother," and is also the Author of "Handbag Designer 101," Founder of The Handbag Awards and National Handbag Designer Day, has been a long-time advocate and voice of the independent handbag designer and has helped unknown brands garner placement into Bloomingdale's, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue. "After 15 years of The Handbag Awards, and teaching Fashion Marketing at Parsons The New School for Design, and Entrepreneurship at the Fashion Institute of Technology, it was the logical step to create the 'Signal Brands Collective' incubator," Blumenthal says. "Signal Brands' commitment to working with us through the IHDA made them a logical partner of nurturing talent where designers will create a collection via Signal Brands that will allow their brand to be available to a larger audience."

The first cohort of designers selected for the Signal Brands Collective are IHDA Winners, Jeff Wan, Ivana Curic, and Marija Curic of Curic & Curic; and Valèrie Blaise of Vavvoune, Sade Mims of edas, and Shaquita Garcia of AART NYC

Extensively Sourced Book Shows How Clever Filmmaking Can Mislead the Public

Cover of Oliver Stone's Film-Flam: The Demagogue of Dealey Plaza

In his timely and powerful new book, Oliver Stone's Film-Flam: The Demagogue of Dealey Plaza, author Fred Litwin debunks the major allegations in JFK: Destiny Betrayed -- Oliver Stone's 2021 documentary series on the JFK assassination.

Litwin's book examines:

  • The formation of the Warren Commission.
  • The relationship between JFK and the CIA.
  • Why Jack Ruby killed Oswald.
  • How the medical evidence supports a lone gunman.
  • The role of imperfect memory in witness testimony.
  • A refutation of a possible alibi for Lee Harvey Oswald.
  • The chain of custody of CE 399 - the bullet found at Parkland Hospital.
  • The insidious claim that JFK's physician, Dr. George Burkley, participated in a cover-up.
  • Spurious allegations about General Curtis LeMay.
  • Supposed plots against JFK in Chicago and Tampa.
  • The homophobic persecution of Clay Shaw by Jim Garrison.

Oliver Stone's Film-Flam is extensively sourced and contains over 600 links to the internet (in the Kindle version), as well as excerpts from many JFK assassination documents.

"This book shows how Oliver Stone gets it wrong and how the evidence just doesn't support his allegations," said Fred Litwin. "A lot of the film's material is surprisingly easy to debunk. Viewers of this documentary series deserve to know the truth."

Litwin's book will interest historians and film critics, fans of President Kennedy, and anyone interested in the debunking of conspiracy theories. It will certainly become a necessary addition to any JFK library.

Oliver Stone's Film-Flam, ISBN: 978-0-9948630-6-5, 2023, NorthernBlues Books, 496 Pages, Paperback $17.99, eBook $7.99; Available on Amazon, Kindle, iTunes, KOBO and the author's website: http://www.OnTheTrailofDelusion.com

About Fred Litwin: Fred is the author of four books and has written articles for the National Post, the Ottawa Citizen, and the Toronto Sun, among others. His 2020 book, On the Trail of Delusion - Jim Garrison: The Great Accuser exposed the fraudulent prosecution of Clay Shaw for conspiring to murder JFK.

There is a lot of pro-Putin bias in the Western world. We aim to dispel this “macho” propaganda and reveal true colors of his regime: murder, intimidation, industrialized kleptocracy and well-funded russian fascism propaganda machines. We were born in Russia, we have lost friends to this murderer… we see how he “zombifies” most and intimidates...
