Vice President Kamala Harris met today with President Emmanuel Macron of France in Munich, Germany. The Vice President and President Macron reaffirmed the importance of continued support for Ukraine and imposing costs on Russia for its brutal invasion. The Vice President reaffirmed that the United States would support Ukraine for as long as it takes, and they discussed next steps in our united response. The Vice President and President Macron discussed the strength of NATO and U.S.-European relations. The Vice President and President Macron discussed challenges posed by the People’s Republic of China, including the importance of upholding the rules-based order, and agreed to remain closely aligned. The Vice President noted the importance of Africa and they agreed to deepen cooperation toward economic growth on the continent. They also discussed transatlantic cooperation in addressing the climate crisis and accelerating the transition to clean energy.
